HOW LONG WILL A SPRAIN-GUARD™ LAST?
Our free parts replacement warranty lasts 6 months from date of shipment, but the Sprain-Guard™ will last a lot longer. Under normal circumstance, you can expect up to a year of service, or possibly more, from a Sprain-Guard™.
We generally assume that the Sprain-Guard™ will last approximately as long as two pairs of shoes will, or maybe even longer. That’s why we provide our device transfer service, enabling you to transfer a Sprain-Guard™ from a worn shoe, to a new one. This approach is less expensive than ordering a new Sprain-Guard™ if your shoe is wearing out but the Sprain-Guard™ is still in good condition.
Longevity, however, is directly determined by the individual user, and cannot be guaranteed on a case-by-case basis, beyond the Warranty period.

CAN MY SPRAIN-GUARD™ BE USED WITH ANOTHER SHOE?
YES, BUT IT HAS TO BE PROFESSIONALLY TRANSFERRED.
The Sprain-Guard™ is a durable device that will normally outlast the shoe it is attached to. When the shoe begins to wear out, in order to continue your ankle protection without having to buy a new Sprain-Guard™, you can have your Sprain-Guard™ transferred to another shoe.
To transfer a Sprain-Guard™ safely from one shoe to another, you must send us both the old shoe (with the attached Sprain-Guard™ straps), and the new shoe, so that we can make the transfer, thereby maximizing your safety.
When selecting shoes to transfer the Sprain-Guard™ to, please select new shoes, or select shoes that have a reasonable remaining service life.
We charge a nominal fee for the transfer service, but it’s the only way to have your Sprain-Guard™ installed so that you can count on its performance. A Sprain-Guard™ Transfer comes with a 90-day warranty.

CAN THE SPRAIN-GUARD™ BE USED WITH ORTHOTIC INSERTS, CLEATS OR WITH SHIN GUARDS?
ABSOLUTELY!
You could use the Sprain-Guard™ with any one of these, or any combination of these, or even with ALL of them, at the same time.
No Kidding!
WHAT KIND OF SHOES WILL THE SPRAIN-GUARD™ WORK WITH?
The Sprain-Guard™ will integrate smoothly with most street shoes, work and recreational shoes, and lace-up boots.
It also works with most low, mid and high-top athletic shoes.
HOW DOES USING A SPRAIN-GUARD™ COMPARE TO USING TAPE?
GOOD QUESTION!!!
Traditionally, in scholastic and professional sports, right up to the present day, ankles are taped with cotton adhesive tape in an effort to stabilize ankles in order to protect them from rollovers. A good tape job promotes a very secure feeling for an athlete who has been previously injured, and who knows he needs support for his ankle.
However, taping is a complex skill that should be performed by a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), to ensure safety. But not all athletes have access to a trainer, and taping cannot be done effectively by the user himself.
Taping is also very time-consuming and expensive. A good tape job (one foot) can take an ATC as long as 10 minutes to do, and can require a full roll of tape (wholesale cost, approximately $1).
But the key point is that many studies have indicated that the benefits of ankle taping are short-lived, at best (up to 50% of the support can be lost within 10 minutes of activity, Also, during the first 10 minutes of use, some restriction of normal ankle joint movement may be experienced. And many athletes who used tape have been bothered by skin irritation caused by the adhesive.
So, bottom line, only some professional and scholastic athletes have access to a trainer for ankle taping, which only works for a little while, and may restrict some normal ankle mobility at first. Individuals other than scholastic and pro athletes, that is, all the rest of us, virtually have no access to someone to tape their ankles whenever necessary.
Overall, taping is not a great solution, and is limited to only a small percentage of the population.
Based on the results of some recent studies, the authors have concluded that ankle braces do a better job at protecting athletes from ankle sprains than ankle taping with cotton tape. They also concluded that some ankle braces are better at protecting the user than others.
The Sprain-Guard™ for Ankles provides consistent support. Once applied, and seated properly on the ankle, the Sprain-Guard™ will provide the same level of support until the setting is adjusted, or the device is removed. The Sprain-Guard™ does not stretch or shift, and does not cause skin irritation, chafing or callusing.
And the Sprain-Guard™ is put on, adjusted and removed by the user, in just seconds. No assistance is required.
