I HAVE FOOT DROP and ANKLE INSTABILITY. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST?
You actually have two separate problems, but we can help you effectively and comfortably with either, or with both, day and night, indoors or outdoors, under wet or dry daily conditions.
v SOLUTION 1: WHEN WEARING SHOES, INDOORS OR OUTDOORS
The Dorsi-Strap™ is made to provide effective dorsi-flexion support to overcome foot drop, when wearing shoes. It provides no other support of any kind, and it will not interfere with any natural foot movements.
We also make the Sprain-Guard™ for Ankles, which is specifically designed to control lateral or medial ankle instability. The Sprain-Guard™ has been patented in 4 countries, and it’s been successfully protecting ankles from rolling over for over 20 years.
THE DORSI-STRAP™ AND THE SPRAIN-GUARD™ WORK TOGETHER, TO OVERCOME CONCURRENT SYMPTOMS OF FOOT DROP WITH ANKLE INSTABILITY.*
*NOTE: This combination of the Sprain-Guard™ and the Dorsi-Strap™ has been available on a custom basis for many years. At this time, these devices are shown independently in this website (see links below). We will be updating the website soon with detailed information about using the Sprain-Guard™ and the Dorsi-Strap™ together.
Feel free to call us at (845) 233-4713, for additional information.
v SOLUTION 2: WITHOUT SHOES, INDOORS, WET OR DRY
For foot drop, when you are NOT WEARING SHOES, we make the Dorsi-Lite™ Foot Splint. It’s the smallest, lightest, most maneuverable and comfortable off-hours dorsi-flexion support available, useable by individuals with shoe sizes 5 – 13 (US), and sizes 37-47 (EU).
The Dorsi-Lite™ provides comfortable foot stabilization and normal ankle joint mobility, for moving about at home, relaxing, or sleeping, for working while seated, and when on longer trips.
It maintains the foot at a neutral position when at rest, provides dorsi-flexion support to counter foot drop, and also provides gentle lateral or medial ankle support.
The Dorsi-Lite™ is comfortable to walk in, and can be used during the day with socks or with soft, roomy slippers, and it can be used as a night brace, in bed, and when reclining.
The Dorsi-Lite™ is also 100% water-compatible, and can provide continuing support while bathing, showering, swimming, or in a hydrotherapy pool.Click here to see the DORSI-STRAP™

MY CHILD IS A TOE-WALKER. CAN YOU HELP?
Parents have contacted us on several occasions, and purchased the Dorsi-Strap™ and the Dorsi-Strap™ PRO in order to treat children that are toe-walkers.
We were not successful in helping the situation in any of these cases.
Although the Dorsi-Strap™ works successfully even with adults that are heavy, or have large foot size, and/or have a severe foot drop condition, the amount of strength that even a small child can exert to push his or her forefoot downwards (plantar-flex the foot), is almost unbelievable. The amount of support that an orthopedic device would have to provide in order to effectively counteract that force is significant, and, unfortunately, beyond that which is provided by the Dorsi-Strap™.
As a result, we’re sorry to say that we do NOT recommend the Dorsi-Strap™ for efforts aimed at improving toe-walking.

I HAVE PLANTAR FASCIITIS. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST?
Plantar fasciitis (PF) is an inflammatory condition that can cause intense heel pain. Many people that suffer with PF are most bothered by the pain in the morning, immediately upon getting out of bed, but pain can often persist throughout the day.
Recent studies comparing treatment modalities have demonstrated that sleeping in a Night Splint can significantly lessen morning pain caused by PF.
To help combat the symptoms of Plantar Fasciitis, the Dorsi-Lite™ Foot Splint comfortably maintains the foot in a neutral position while in bed or at rest, and provides gentle overall foot stabilization. It is lightweight, stays cool, has an extremely small profile, and does not slip off.
It can be used with socks or with soft, roomy slippers, to provide support when shoes are not worn. The Dorsi-Lite™ is also 100% water-compatible, and can be used for continuing support while bathing, showering, swimming, and in a hydrotherapy pool.Click here to see the DORSI-LITE™

I HAVE ACHILLES TENDONITIS. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST?
Achilles tendonitis is a painful inflammation of the Achilles tendon, located at the back of the lower leg, connecting the leg muscles to the foot, at the heel. In most cases, symptoms may be mild at first, worsening with continued activity. Repeated or continued stress on the Achilles tendon increases inflammation and pain, at times significantly affecting walking. Achilles tendonitis frequently requires a long recovery period.
The Dorsi-Lite™ Foot Splint is designed to combat Achilles tendonitis by maintaining the foot in a neutral position while at rest, and provides gentle overall foot stabilization. This relieves pressure on the Achilles tendon, and also helps the leg muscles to relax.
The Dorsi-Lite™ is used during the day with socks or with soft, roomy slippers, and it can be used as a night brace, in bed, and when reclining. The Dorsi-Lite™ is also fully water-compatible, providing continuing support while bathing, showering, swimming and in a hydrotherapy pool.Click here to see the DORSI-LITE™

I HAVE SHIN SPLINTS. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST?
Shin splints is a term used to refer to a painful condition in the shins, often caused by running or jumping, or for some people, even from walking. The pain is the result of an overload on the shinbone and the connective tissue that attaches your muscles to the bone, causing inflammation of the connective tissue. This condition may be very slow to heal.
To combat the symptoms of Shin Splints, we offer the Dorsi-Lite™ Foot Splint, designed to maintain the foot in a natural, neutral position while sleeping and resting, and it provides gentle overall foot stabilization, thereby relieving pressure on the shin and the connective tissue of the lower leg.

I HAVE HEEL SPURS. WHAT WOULD YOU SUGGEST?
The heel spur (or calcaneal spur), is a nail-like growth of calcium around the ligaments and tendons of the foot where they attach to the heel bone.
The Heel Spur growth itself has no feeling. However, pain results from the protrusion of the heel spur into soft tissue around the heel of the foot. The area around the spur may become inflamed and cause pain, as well as bruising, as the pointed spur digs through sensitive nerves and tissue. It is particularly painful when standing or walking on the inflamed area. Pain can be most severe following periods of rest.
Recent studies comparing treatment modalities have demonstrated that sleeping in a Night Splint can significantly lessen the pain.
To help combat the symptoms of Heel Spurs, the Dorsi-Lite™ Foot Splint comfortably maintains the foot in a neutral position while in bed or when at rest, and provides gentle overall foot stabilization. It is lightweight, stays cool, has an extremely small profile, and does not slip off.
It can be used with socks or with soft, roomy slippers, to provide support when shoes are not worn. The Dorsi-Lite™ is also 100% water-compatible, and can be used for continuing support while bathing, showering, swimming, and in a hydrotherapy pool.

WHO SHOULD ORDER THE DORSI-STRAP™ for Foot Drop?
The standard Dorsi-Strap™ for Foot Drop is designed to provide comfortable, natural walking with near-normal mobility and gait, for anyone having foot drop symptoms, no matter what the cause, or the level of severity, when wearing a shoe.
It works equally well for individuals with all foot sizes up to 11 ½. For foot sizes 12, or larger, we recommend the heavier-duty model, called the Dorsi-Strap™ PRO, described immediately below.
The standard Dorsi-Strap™ can be used with street shoes, and with many shoes that do not have lace holes, such as sandals, and shoes that have Velcro® strap closures. You can use your own comfortable shoes with the Dorsi-Strap™. No oversized or special shoes are required.
The Dorsi-Strap™ is a breakthrough for individuals who have been disappointed and frustrated by conventional, rigid AFO braces, which often require the use of oversized shoes and are uncomfortable and heavy, and it’s ideal for individuals with foot drop who have never before used any kind of Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO).

WHO SHOULD ORDER THE DORSI-STRAP™ PRO?
The Dorsi-Strap™ PRO provides all the same support, mobility and comfort benefits for walking for foot drop sufferers as the standard Dorsi-Strap™ (see immediately above), but it is built to serve individuals who engage in activities more vigorous than walking, such as working, jogging, hiking, golfing, gardening, working out, etc. when wearing shoes.
The Dorsi-Strap™ PRO is also recommended for people with shoe size 12 or larger, and for those weighing 195 pounds or more. The PRO can be used with athletic, recreational and work shoes, and with lace-up boots, as well as with street shoes, and can also be used with many shoes that do not have lace holes.
The PRO is made of tougher materials than the standard Dorsi-Strap™, in order to stand up to heavy-duty use, and has a longer service life than the standard Dorsi-Strap™, even when taking the kind of beating active individuals often subject it to.
