WHAT IS THE DORSI-LITE™? HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Dorsi-Lite™ Foot Splint is an Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO), designed to provide support to the ankle/foot area of the body. It can be used either with or without shoes using your own regular size shoe.
The Dorsi-Lite™ is a highly maneuverable, super-comfortable, very dynamic orthopedic brace, providing dorsi-flexion support to assist in treating the following conditions:
· foot drop
· plantar fasciitis
· Achilles tendonitis
· shin splints
· heel spurs
The Dorsi-Lite™ also provides some foot stabilization, in the form of moderate lateral and medial ankle support.
The Dorsi-Lite™ also provides full, normal ankle joint mobility for moving about with or without shoes. It does not immobilize the foot as do most AFOs, and it’s comfortable to walk with.
The Dorsi-Lite™ maintains the foot at a neutral position at rest, and can be used day or night, either wet or dry. It is ideal for patients needing long-term treatment, as well as for temporary foot stabilization. The Dorsi-Lite™ Adult size fits US sizes 5 – 13, EU sizes 35- 45. The Children's size fits US 2-13, EU 17-31.
Used dry, for most normal daily activities, and around the home, the Dorsi-Lite™ can be worn with shoes or sandals, socks and with soft, roomy slippers for moving about, sitting, or relaxing. The Dorsi-Lite™ also serves as a night splint for individuals that need foot/ankle support in bed, or when reclining. And with it on, getting up at night is not a challenge.
Used wet, the Dorsi-Lite™ provides continuing support for the foot in the bath, shower, swimming pool or hydrotherapy pool. It is 100% water-compatible.
ONE DORSI-LITE™ TREATS ONE FOOT. The Dorsi-Lite™ is sold singly. Individuals that need support on both feet should order two Dorsi-Lites™.
The Dorsi-Lite™, which is worn over the top of the foot and the front of the ankle (known as a DORSAL SPLINT DESIGN), contains 4 components:
- The L-shaped plastic Spine to which the Pad, the Cuff and the Strap, are attached with Velcro® connections.
- The foam cushioning Pad sits between the inside of the Spine and the foot/ankle.
- The wide, soft, stretchable, and breathable foam Cuff wraps around the top part of the Spine, and around the ankle, and closes with Velcro®.
- The narrower stretchable Strap wraps around the lower end of the plastic Spine, and around the forefoot. For firmer support, the Adult size (only) Dorsi-Lite™ also comes with the non-stretch Super-Strap, which replaces the standard Strap around the foot. Both straps use Velcro® closures.
NOTE: WHEN USED WITH SHOES, THE STRAP AT THE LOWER END OF THE DORSI-LITE™ IS NOT USED.
The Dorsi-Lite’s™ Strap and Cuff keep the foot and ankle pressed comfortably against the inner side of the plastic Spine. Normal foot movement (full ankle joint mobility) is possible due to the stretchable property of the straps. The user can walk comfortably, almost naturally, with the Dorsi-Lite™ on.
The Dorsi-Lite™ is assembled in the USA, and is shipped worldwide.

CAN I APPLY THE DORSI-LITE™ WITH ONE HAND
IN MANY CASES!
The Dorsi-Lite™ Foot Splint is being used successfully by people that can only manipulate one of their hands. In fact, every Dorsi-Lite™ comes with illustrated, easy-to-follow instructions that show you how to apply the Dorsi-Lite™ using only one arm.
The Dorsi-Lite™ attaches to the foot/ankle using a stretchable Cuff, which is worn around the ankle, and a stretchable Strap, which is worn around the foot. The Cuff and the Strap come attached to the device’s plastic Spine, and are applied to fit slightly snug, using Velcro® closures.
To remove the Dorsi-Lite™, only the Cuff (worn around the ankle), must have its Velcro® closure opened. The Dorsi-Lite™ can then be slipped off the foot without opening the Strap’s Velcro® closure.
To put the Dorsi-Lite™ back on, one can slip back into the Strap, and just re-connect the Cuff’s Velcro® closure around the ankle.
Many Dorsi-Lite™ users that have limited use of only one hand, or arm, can mange these connections, with a little practice. Click here to see How To Apply the Dorsi-Lite™ with One Arm.
WILL THE DORSI-LITE™ WORK FOR ME?
PROBABLY!
The Dorsi-Lite™ Foot Splint makes life a lot more pleasant and convenient for most users that try it.
The Dorsi-Lite™ comfortably treats foot drop, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, shin splint and heel spur problems around the home, day or night, wet or dry. It provides comfortable, natural mobility without having to wear shoes all the time, and without having to wear a large, rigid, cumbersome, and often uncomfortable, AFO brace. The Dorsi-Lite™ also offers moderate foot and ankle stabilization for people who are recovering from a sprained ankle. The Dorsi-Lite™ permits normal ankle joint mobility, thereby enabling the user to mobilize the foot, and to build muscle tissue, keeping the leg and foot muscles from atrophy. It also helps improve balance and promotes natural body movements.
The Dorsi-Lite™ is designed to fit Adult foot size 5 through size13 (US), and size 37 through size 47 (EU). The Dorsi-Lite™ is designed to fit Children's foot sizes 2-13 (US), 17-31 (EU). The Dorsi-Lite™ comfortably fits approximately 95% our customers whose feet fall into these size range.

Based on historic experience, your odds are about 95% that you’ll want to keep it.The Dorsi-Lite™ comes with a 30-day, money-back, no-questions-asked warranty, just in case it doesn’t meet your expectations for support, mobility, comfort and convenience.
HOW LONG WILL THE DORSI-LITE™ LAST?
Under normal circumstance, the Dorsi-Lite™ can reasonably be expected to provide good service for a minimum of 6 months, and up to a year, or possibly even longer. Longevity, however, is directly determined by the individual user, and cannot be guaranteed on a case-by-case basis.
The Dorsi-Lite’s™ plastic spine, which holds everything together, should last almost indefinitely, if the device is used as directed in the User Instructions.
The Dorsi-Lite’s™ fabric components, used either wet or dry, should reasonably perform effectively for a minimum of 6 months, and much longer for most people. In any case, you will get your money’s worth. And, of course, don’t forget our 90-day, free parts replacement warranty, at a minimum!
And the Dorsi-Lite’s™ components are hand washable.
FOR ADULTS
The 2-Piece Fabric Component Set (the Strap and the Cuff) are the two DORSI-LITE™ Components that get the most wear-and-tear, and will, therefore, wear out more quickly than the other components. The Strap and the Cuff can be ordered as a set. These are the same components as those that come with a new DORSI-LITE™.
The inexpensive 4-Piece Fabric Components Set for the Dorsi-Lite™ is available optionally to replace worn components, and for people that regularly need to use the Dorsi-Lite™ in both dry and wet circumstances. These are the same components as those that come with a new DORSI-LITE™.
FOR CHILDREN
The 3-Piece Fabric Components Set contains the same components that come with a new kid's size Dorsi-Lite™, including the Cuff, the Strap and the cushioning Pad.
