WHAT IS THE DORSI-STRAP
? HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Dorsi-Strap for Foot Drop is an Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO), designed to provide FOOT DROP SUPPORT to the ankle/foot area of the body. No other support of any kind if provided, and there is no restriction of any normal ankle joint movement.

The Dorsi-Strap is supportive, comfortable, maneuverable, lightweight, and low-profile, and is used when wearing shoes. It provides effective treatment for foot drop, resulting in comfortable, natural walking, and improved balance and gait, without the need for special shoes.

The Dorsi-Strap works with street shoes and with athletic and recreational shoes, and can be used with many types of shoes that do not have lace holes. The standard Dorsi-Strapfits individuals with shoe sizes up to 11½.   For people with shoe size 12, or larger, we recommend the slightly heavier-duty Dorsi-StrapPRO, discussed below.

The Dorsi-Straphas achieved an acceptance rate of approximately 95% with our customers, over time.

One Dorsi-Strap treats one foot. The Dorsi-Strapis sold singly. Individuals that need support on both feet should order two Dorsi-Straps.

The Dorsi-Strap consists of 3 components:

1)     1) A soft, stretchable, breathable foam cuff is worn around the ankle, right above the ankle bones. It has Velcro® on its entire outer surface, and also has a Velcro® closure.

2)     2) The other parts are two identical straps. Each strap has a shoelace at one end, and a Velcro strap at the other end. The two lace ends of the straps are laced into the shoe's lace holes, and tied together to keep them in place. Once installed, the straps may be left in the shoe for repeated use, or easily transferred to another shoe.

To use the Dorsi-Strap, the cuff is applied comfortably around the ankle, and the shoe, with the straps installed into its lace holes, as described above, is put on, and laced up as usual.

The forefoot is then elevated, as shown in the User Instructions, and the two Dorsi-Strapstraps are connected around the cuff, using Velcro®.

It’s that easy, and only takes a few seconds to apply, to adjust, and to remove.

The unique Dorsi-Strapsystem keeps the user’s forefoot elevated comfortably and securely, providing a near-normal gait and improved balance, in addition to full ankle movement in all non-supported directions. Driving and climbing stairs are no longer challenges when wearing the Dorsi-Strap.

The Dorsi-Strap is very lightweight, and cool to wear, and is available in white, black or brown, to match shoe colors.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE STANDARD DORSI-STRAP
AND THE
PRO?

The standard Dorsi-Strap provides excellent dorsi-flexion support for foot drop, while it allows your foot and ankle to move normally in all other directions. The result is comfortable, natural walking with street shoes, improved balance, and significant elimination of the limp, often caused by discomfort from regular AFOs that force you to place a rigid platform under your foot.

The Dorsi-Strap works with lace-up street shoes, and it can also be used with many types of shoes that do not have lace holes (such as sandals and shoes with Velcro® straps), and is recommended for individuals with shoe size up to 11½.

The heavier-duty Dorsi-Strap PRO provides the same support as the standard Dorsi-Strap, but it is built to also handle activities more vigorous than walking, such as working out, hiking, jogging, working, gardening, golfing, etc.

The Dorsi-Strap PRO is also recommended for people with shoe size 12, or larger, or for those weighing 195 pounds, or more.

The PRO works with athletic, recreational and work shoes, and with lace-up boots, in addition to street shoes. It can also be used with many types of shoes that do not have lace holes, such as sandals and shoes with Velcro® straps.

The standard Dorsi-Strapand the PRO have achieved an acceptance rate of approximately 95% with our customers, over time.

Available in white, black or brown, to match shoe colors, and built to stand up to heavy–duty use, the Dorsi-Strap PRO is made with athletic-grade shoelaces and with longer and heavier straps than the standard Dorsi-Strap.

WILL THE DORSI-STRAP
FIT ME?

Yes!

The standard Dorsi-Strap fits all feet through size 11 ½.

The Dorsi-Strap PRO, fits ALL foot sizes, including the largest sizes.

This is a little hard to imagine when you think in terms of regular orthopedic supports that come in multiple sizes, or that have to be custom-made, and have to be worn about the foot and ankle, or inside the shoe and under the foot. But the Dorsi-Strap is very different.

When you see it, you will understand.

HOW DO I PUT THE DORSI-STRAP
ON TO GET THE BEST RESULTS?

Here are four things you can do to ensure you are putting the Dorsi-Strap on in the best way, in order to achieve optimum support, comfort and mobility:

  1. The first couple of times you put the Dorsi-Strap on, follow the illustrated step-by-step directions slowly and carefully to easily install the straps into the shoe, and to apply the cuff and the straps in the best manner. It’s a quick and simple process that will yield the best results when done as described in the enclosed User Instructions.

  1. After putting the Dorsi-Strapon according to the User Instructions, if you feel you need additional support, review and follow the Instructions carefully where they describe how to elevate your forefoot against a wall or door frame. Ensure that you move your knee towards the wall once your foot is resting against the wall, before applying the straps to the cuff.

You must be seated when you do this.

  1. When you are applying the straps around the cuff, with your forefoot elevated, make sure the straps are being pulled up STEEPLY towards the top edge of the cuff, before the straps make contact with the cuff at the sides of the ankle.

  1. If you followed the instructions as described in steps 2 and 3, above, and you feel you want even more support for your foot, if you’ve laced the Dorsi-Strap's straps into the second lace holes from the toe end of the shoe, move the straps down to the FIRST lace holes at the toe end of the shoe.

Any one of these steps can improve the fit, and provide increased support and comfort. Doing all four should do the trick for you.

A little practice, as suggested in the User Instructions, will help a lot.

If you’ve tried and are still not satisfied, call us at (845) 233-4713, and we’ll walk you through it.

WILL THE DORSI-STRAP
WORK FOR ME?

PROBABLY YES!

Dorsi-Strap users come from a wide variety of populations, including those with MS, MD, stroke, diabetes, unexpected surgery results, physical traumas such as sports and vehicular accidents, etc.

The Dorsi-Strap for Foot Drop, and the heavier-duty Dorsi-Strap PRO, make life a lot more pleasant, safer, and more convenient for most of these individuals, by promoting comfortable and secure, normal day-to-day activities, with greater independence, control and confidence.

Pretty impressive, we think!

Pretty astounding, and wonderful, many of out customers think.

Click here to check out some very interesting CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS about the Dorsi-Strap and the Dorsi-Strap PRO.

The Dorsi-Strap system provides excellent support for foot drop, yet it is light-weight, highly maneuverable, and extremely comfortable. It permits near-normal ankle joint mobility (except for the dorsi-flexion support needed to overcome the dropped foot), and thereby enables the user to mobilize the foot, often without a noticeable limp.

The Dorsi-Strap helps build muscle tissue, thereby keeping the leg and foot muscles from atrophy. This high level of mobility promotes natural body movements and gait while walking, to help improve balance.

Our usual advice to prospective users is: try and see how well the device performs for YOU.
Based on historic sales, the odds are about 95% in your favor that you’ll want to keep the Dorsi-Strap™, and get rid of that rigid plastic or metal brace.

Both the Dorsi-Strap and the Dorsi-Strap PRO come with a money-back, no-questions-asked warranty, just in case they don’t meet your expectations for support, mobility, comfort and convenience.

WILL THE DORSI-STRAP
BE COMFORTABLE TO USE?

Most users are impressed by the Dorsi-Strap’s comfort and mobility. Particularly those who have had to use a rigid AFO that went into the shoe, under the foot, and almost up to the back of the knee.

We believe that your chances of getting proper foot drop support and ankle joint mobility with real comfort are much better with the Dorsi-Strap than with any other device on the market.

Here’s why:

·         When using the Dorsi-Strap™, you use your own, regular, comfortable shoes, on both feet. No special, oversized shoes are required in order to accommodate the Dorsi-Strap™, as with the typical AFO brace.

·         With the Dorsi-Strap, nothing goes into your shoe other than your foot and your sock, and possibly your orthotic insert, if you use one. That means that with the Dorsi-Strap, nothing is placed under your foot, so there is no rigid, uncomfortable platform to stand on, or walk on.

·         With the Dorsi-Strap ALL components are flexible. There are no rigid parts! And the Dorsi-Strap is instantly adjustable for your size, and for your anatomy. That means: no irritation, no callusing, no cramping.

·         With the Dorsi-Strap you will experience a near-normal, natural gait because you will have full ankle joint mobility (except for the dorsi-flexion support needed to overcome the dropped foot), and you will be wearing your own comfortable shoes. You will experience improved balance and natural body movements, and will therefore be reducing the wear and tear on your feet, ankles, knees, hips and back, that is usually caused by a standard AFO.

·         The Dorsi-Strapis also lightweight, coming in at under 3 OZ, and stays cool and dry, as a result of the special breathable fabric. The Dorsi-Strapis conveniently put on, adjusted and removed in seconds, using all Velcro®
